Dalmore King Alexander III is a premium single malt whisky produced by The Dalmore Distillery located in Alness, Scotland. This whisky is named after King Alexander III of Scotland, who ruled during the 13th century. Dalmore King Alexander III is known for its complex and rich flavor profile, achieved through a unique maturation process involving six different types of casks.
Nose: The aroma is rich and fruity, with notes of red berries, citrus zest, and hints of vanilla and spice.
Palate: On the palate, this whisky offers a velvety texture with flavors of dark chocolate, roasted coffee beans, orange peel, and tropical fruits.
Finish: The finish is long and warming, with lingering notes of caramel, cinnamon, and oak.
Dalmore King Alexander III stands out for its multi-cask maturation process. The whisky is initially aged in American white oak ex-bourbon casks, which impart a smooth and sweet character. It is then transferred to Matusalem oloroso sherry casks from Spain, adding depth and richness to the flavor profile. Next, the whisky is aged in Madeira drums from Portugal, contributing notes of honeyed fruits. Dalmore King Alexander III also spends time in Marsala barrels from Sicily, which bring out flavors of dried fruits and spices. Additionally, it is matured in port pipes from Portugal and Cabernet Sauvignon wine barriques from Bordeaux, enhancing the complexity of the final product.
